Ichendorf, a story that began in the early 20th century, in a small village near Cologne, called Quadrath-Ichendorf.
Masters made glass from a mixture of substances, including silica, shaping precious objects to suit the refined taste of the time. A stylistic code defined by impeccable ornamentation, which played an undeniable role in the collections proposed up to 1950.
From 1950 onwards, a major change was decided: the focus was on the essentiality of form and the purity of the material, resulting in transparency without imperfections. Design was based on the search for a renewed language of forms accessible to all and no longer of an exclusive nature: the creation of objects with a contemporary design began.
In 1990 the Ichendorf Style Centre was created in Milan, a meeting point for artists and designers.
